We had an incredible experience with Carlos on his organic family-run farm! Carlos holds a deep love and great knowledge of the culture, history, and making of chocolate. Carlos's passion for regenerative farming is contagious and we learned so much. After touring the farm, we made a ceremonial chocolate drink as well as hot chocolate. Then we went through the process of making chocolate from the cocoa pod to the bar- it was fascinating, tasty and informative. We walked away with several chocolate bars at the end of the tour and also got to try many other fruits from around the farm- everything organic. Highly recommend this tour!

I can't begin to accurately describe the authentic and educational experience we had at this farm, especially in comparison to others we have visited previously. Our host, Carlos (and his great daughters!) provided a truly hands-on experience, highlighted by fascinating agricultural and historical information that increased our understanding and appreciation for the real Costa Rica. Our farm tour, along with the cacao tour and the pressing of sugar can rounded out a wonderful morning! Carlos' generosity and rich love of the land are inspirational and we will return with grandchildren so that they might, too, experience this taste of Costa Rica's natural brilliance and beauty.

My family had an absolutely fantastic time doing the chocolate and farm tour with Carlos. The tour ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. My ten-year-old son did not want to leave! The tour is much more intimate than some of the other tours I have heard about. We really had the chance to ask a lot of questions and learn a lot about chocolate and other fruits and plants that Carlos is growing. I would definitely recommend booking one of Carlos's tours.

This is a true ecotourism experience that helped me and my family see what the real current day culture and history of Costa Rica life involve. Carlos and his family clearly work so hard and we were honored to be allowed the personal, small group tour of his farm and learned so much!

Prior to my recent visit to Costa Rica, I had seen pictures and had heard about Carlos' extraordinary farm. Being there made my visit even more special. I didn't only see, touch, and taste the incredible forms of plants, fruits and vegetables that Carlos was nurturing on his land, but I felt like I was invited into his natural home to witness his labor of love. Carlos was easy-going and conversational about his work, taking time to explain the surroundings with a personal touch. From grinding chocolate to eat to pressing sugar cane to drink, each step of the journey was authentic. I felt a part of the land I walked on and Carlos' passion when responding in detail to questions I asked. He is a gracious and knowledgeable host. If it rains on you, it only enhances the experience! I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in having a genuine, up-close, hands-on experience and a special glimpse into what the fertile land of Costa Rica can offer. I left feeling energized and like I had made a friend.

For anyone who is reading this, Carlos is amazing! Knowledgeable, passionate, and easy to talk to. The trip around the farm, making "Mud water" (traditional South America hot chocolate). History behind the chocolate, and variety of different cocoa fruits. And how they all shapend taste different. You will have great time learning and working with your own hands. We booked the farm to table cooking experience with Carlos and thoroughly enjoyed it. The setting was Carlos' and his wife's plot of family land that he is transforming into an integrated farm that can feed his family. We loved learning about all of the different food crops, animals, herbs, and spices he is growing. Carlos also taught us about the preparation of several dishes, and we dug and helped to prepare cassava for dinner. After that we enjoyed a traditional Costa Rican Casado dinner (rice, beans, veggies, and protein). It was similar to what is served at many sodas and restaurants but better than any we've had before. The beans in the dish were fresh and soft instead of the usual harder dried ones and were cooked with green bananas, the squash was fresh from the garden, and the chicken was outstanding. Carlos also served us fresh white pineapple--one of the 47 (!) types of fruit he had counted growing on his land. A highlight we hope to reproduce at home was a pineapple curd dessert. Carlos' wife and young daughters also helped with the experience. Highly recommended!

I've been three times to Carlos' chocolate tour and each time I learned something new (and indulged in the delicious chocolate). His farm tour is very inspiring and enjoyable. It was fun to have his daughters join us and see what a wonderful life they have surrounded by nature. I want to go again to the cooking class. Definitely recommended!
